Exploring the outdoor interior

Photo (taken by Virginia) from Nuit Blanche 2008. A back alley is transformed into an interior, office-like space, ceiling panels and fluorescent lighting included. A homeless person remains, seemingly oblivious to having become an objet d'art.

Le paste di Torino

There is nothing that compares to these little pastry masterpieces... anywhere! If you don't believe me, ask my nonno. He's got my back.

Metallic mannequin

Searching through old files, I found this image entitled "liquid". I recall this from a photoshoot I did in Montreal at the opening of a boutique that specializes in mannequins.

Women on the Bosphorus cruise

I enjoyed observing these women, their warm interaction with one another, their elegance and yet casual mannerisms. Although it may appear as if they are turning away from the camera, they were in fact distracted by something scenic and were looking toward it when I snapped this. I didn't notice until later that the image could come across as if they were asking not to be photographed - of course, if this were the case, I woudn't have.

The perfect Englishman

Shot in London, England, June 14. I spotted this man and pegged him as the perfect Englishman. So I asked if I could take his portrait, his reply? "Certainly, though I don't know why you'd want to." So dry, so British!

Lucky Only You

Back from the hiatus, although posts will not be very frequent over the next month as I will be away and without my computer. However, I am expecting to gather a lot of fodder, so stay tuned in mid-July for more posts.

Meanwhile, this was shot along Bathurst, south of Bloor. Not sure what it is, but I liked the message. I do feel quite lucky.

Sunset over highway

New year's 2007

As of this post I've had 1000 visitors to this blog. Hey, I know that in the internet world that's microscopic, but I am humbled just the same. Thanks everyone for your interest, curiosity and support!

Orchids in the window

On this sunny Easter Monday, I decided that these orchids were a fitting choice... even as there is fresh snow on the ground.

I'll continue to post winter scenes over the next few days. Hard not to when it's all around.

Waking up to snow

Humberside and Indian Road: I shot this on my way to work this morning. The snow seemed to connect people who were out shoveling and walking. Suddenly we had something to say to each other.

As I write this more snow is falling (accompanied by lightening and thunder!). So tomorrow morning's scene may be very much the same.

Winter wonder

Something I discovered on a walk in January. If you know what it is called, please let me know.

On another note, I am sorry that my "brief" hiatus was longer than expected. I felt so lost without PS. Now all is in balance once again. Welcome back!

Steel bridge

I shot this somewhere between Toronto and New York City. I find old steel bridges fascinating with their intersecting lines and arches. The fun part was that this was taken from a moving vehicle (no, I wasn't driving!). So the composition isn't great, but considering the speed and that this was taken through a windshield, I felt it was post-able.

*** p.s. it's a new year and I've decided to change the look of this blog (ever so slightly) to mark 2008. Also, following my December hiatus, I will resume with more frequent postings.
